Siam Singapore International School offers 6 years of education that is designed to give your child a strong foundation in language and numeracy skills. At the end of six years, our students will sit for the International Primary School Leaving Examination (iPSLE) conducted by the Singapore Examination and Assessment Board (SEAB).

Children are innately inquisitive, and we are committed not only to keeping this curiosity alive, but to cultivate it into a passion for life-long learning. Our faculty does this by incorporating the Learning Profile Model and encouraging students to be inquirers, knowledgeable thinkers, communicators, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, well-balanced, and reflective learners.

Our primary school encompasses Primary 1 to Primary 6. Our learning environments are purposefully designed to support the holistic development of each and every child socially, emotionally and academically.

Our curriculum aims to provide every child with a broad range of learning experiences that will help them to discover their own talents and interests.The Primary school curriculum at Siam Singapore International School is focused on three main aspects of education – subject disciplines, knowledge skills, and character development, which will help the students to thrive in the 21st Century.

English – Your child will learn English as their first language in Primary School. English being the lingua franca in this modern-day world, the ability to communicate and write in English remains an essential skill to develop in our young.

At the end of their six years of primary school education, students are expected to be competent in their English Language receptive and productive skills. They should be able to :

  • write effectively to communicate ideas and reason with the correct use of grammar and vocabulary
  • demonstrate understanding of content at the literal and inferential levels
  • demonstrate the ability to read and understand a wide range of texts accurately
  • communicate and articulate oneself clearly during interpersonal interactions

 

Mathematics – Mathematics is at the centre of everyday life. The Singapore Mathematics Syllabus places emphasis on conceptual understanding, skill proficiencies and thinking skills in the learning of Mathematics. Reasoning, application, discovery and communicating Mathematics in an activity-based and learner-centered environment create opportunities for stimulating discussions.

At the end of their six years of primary school education, students are expected to:

  • recall specific mathematical concepts, facts, rules and formulae, and perform straightforward computations
  • analyse data and use mathematical concepts to solve routine mathematical problems
  • interpret data and apply methodical concepts to solve complex and unfamiliar problems

Mandarin – Chinese Language is a compulsory and examinable subject in Primary school. Trilingualism, a cornerstone of our education programme at Siam Singapore International School, is a valuable asset to our students, enabling them to tap into opportunities that can be found in this globalised world.

With students coming from different backgrounds, subject teachers will refine and adopt differentiated teaching approaches to cater to students from different home-language backgrounds. Students will have the opportunity to progress to different levels of achievement in their learning.

At the end of their six years of primary school education, students are expected to be competent in their Chinese Language receptive and productive skills. They should be able to:

  • write effectively to communicate ideas and reason with the correct use of vocabulary
  • demonstrate understanding of content at the literal levels
  • demonstrate the ability to read and understand given texts accurately
  • communicate and articulate oneself clearly during interpersonal interactions

Thai – Thai Culture and Language is a compulsory and examinable subject in Primary school. Science – The Science curriculum is designed to enable students to view the pursuit of science as meaningful and useful. The pursuit of inquiry is based on three integrals of Knowledge, Skills and Processes, and Ethic and Attitudes. We seek to nurture a spirit of curiosity in our students where they find joy in exploring their natural and physical world.

At the end of their six years of primary school education, students are expected to:

  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of scientific facts, concepts, and principles
  • apply scientific facts, concepts, and principles to new situations
  • acquire process skills such as Observing, Comparing, Classifying, Using apparatus and Equipment, Communicating, Inferring, Predicting, Analyzing, Generating possibilities, Evaluating, and Formulating Hypothesis.

Social Studies – Siam Singapore International School’s Social Studies Curriculum is the preparation of students to be citizens of tomorrow by helping them to better understand the interconnectedness of themselves and the world they live in, and appreciate the complexities of the human experience.

Drawing on aspects that are meaningful and of interest to them, Social Studies seeks to ignite student’s curiosity to inquire into real-world issues that concern their lives. We hope for each and every one of our students to mature into informed, concerned, and participative citizens in the future.
